Our Ethics & Values
At English Lakes we know we are not perfect but we try hard to do the right things.
We strive to operate with integrity in all our business operations and recognise that we can only build a strong and sustainable business if we retain the trust and respect of all our partners ? employees, suppliers, customers and our local communities.
Our culture is driven by what we simply refer to as “+1″. In a customer service sense this translates into a constant desire to exceed the expectations of our guests. This often translates into lots of small steps that together result in a better guest experience. We seek to operate in the same spirit in our dealings with our many partners and stakeholders.
Our Environment
We consider ourselves incredibly privileged to be working in the hospitality business welcoming our guests to this beautiful part of the world. We recognise that we have a successful business principally because of the natural beauty of our region and the desire of so many people to come and enjoy it. Therefore we are totally committed to sustainable business practice and regularly review key initiatives at board level.
We have a regular Energy Policy group that constantly review ways to reduce our energyconsumption and environmental impact. We are working with the Green Tourism Business Scheme and conduct regular environmental audits.
As a platinum and founder partner of the “Tourism and Conservation Partnership”, we are proud to give our guests the opportunity to help conserve the beauty of the area they have come to visit. Wherever possible we seek to use local supply options for all our purchases and in our restaurants use seasonal produce whenever possible thus reducing food miles (and because it tastes great!). We encourage our guests to support our efforts by re-using towels and linen, and switching off lights and appliances when not in use.
Our Communities
Over and above our long term commitment to protecting our local environments we also recognise our responsibilities to support both our local communities and some of those with great needs in the wider global community. We encourage our employees to take part in events and initiatives that support their local communities.
Over many years we have supported and sponsored local sporting and cultural programmes and regularly support a number of local children?s charities.
We are also delighted to be partners of Open Arms International, a charity working with orphans and street children in Africa.
Our People
Delivering great customer service is absolutely vital to our business and this can only be achieved with the right people.
We therefore invest a lot of time, energy and resources in recruitment, training, and development of all our teams. We appreciate diversity and value the broad range of nationalities, cultures and backgrounds that make up our teams.
We are proud of the fact that many of our staff members have given long and loyal service to the business, something we recognise and celebrate on a regular basis.
