Athletes make themselves at home in Olympic Village

The Athletes? Village, which will host 16,000 athletes and officials, opened its doors on Monday. However, it didn?t take Great Britain?s swimmers long to add their own personal touches to the official accommodation.

European diving champion Tom Daley posted a photo of his bedroom complete with balloons, bunting, cuddly toy and a collection of over-sized good luck cards. (http://lockerz.com/s/225842616)

Satisfied with his room, the 18-year-old set out to investigate the wildlife, posting this picture of himself posing with a life-sized gorilla sculpture. (http://lockerz.com/s/225843633) ?Just chillin’ with my new friend in the Olympic village :),? he tweeted.

But it?s not speed that counts in this competition. Daley?s decorations will have to stand up to the more considered, but no less patriotic, efforts of teammate Rebecca Adlington.

The traditional British decorations, seen hanging from the walls of the swimmer?s apartment, appear to have been left over from the Queen?s diamond jubilee celebrations earlier this month.

From the quaint to the downright garish, the Games are on.
