The project “Increasing employment through tourism development in Andahuaylillas, Huaro and Urcos – Quispicanchi, Cusco,” which was the winner of the 11th Contest of the National Fund of Job Training and Job Promotion – FONDOEMPLEO for an amount of S/.1,026,674.00 new soles, has also been selected for the Program PPP (Private Public Projects) of the German Cooperation for Development (GIZ), in cooperation with the Peruvian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK-Per?) to receive a contribution of ?20,000.
This project, with a duration of three years, and carried out by Backus Foundation, has the goal of increasing the employment in the Andahuaylillas, Huaro and Urcos districts, in the province of Quispicanchi in the Cusco region, through the development of service training and tourism management in order to generate more visits to the area.
The activities corresponding to the contribution of the German Cooperation for the Development will last three years and will focus on three main components: the development of training and technical assistance for the handicraft industry, food and beverages, and local leadership.
During the signing of the agreement, Mrs. Malena Morales Valent?n, Backus Foundation Executive Director, said, “The programs of corporate social investment to promote local economic development through the enhancement of cultural monuments that Backus supports are intended to promote training and support local economic development and employment generation through a series of plans where research, conservation and consolidation of archaeological sites and cultural places as important tourist attractions constitute the keys of development, ensuring a growth in the flow of tourism and the consequent economic benefit to local people.”
It is worth mentioning that Backus Foundation has formed an alliance with the San Pedro Ap?stol parish in Andahuaylillas, the Jes?s Obrero Association, (CCAIJO), the Regional Office of Culture Cusco, the SEMPA Association and the World Monuments Fund (WMF) of New York, with the intention of consolidating the Route of the Andean Barroque, promoted by the Society of Jesus in this region of Peru.
