Emirates? UAE nationals complete Rolls-Royce leadership training

First batch of trainees completes prestigious course in the UK

The first group of Emirates? UAE national managers to undergo special leadership training at Rolls-Royce in the UK have completed their courses.

The Emirates and Rolls-Royce Leadership and Development Programme is part of a long-term agreement with Rolls-Royce, signed at the Dubai Airshow in November 2011.

The first contingent of 15 UAE national managers travelled to the UK in April this year to attend the first week of the course at the Rolls-Royce Learning and Career Development Centre in Derby. The same managers have now completed the course after a second week of training at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University.

The first part of the course is focused on leadership and techniques to build an effective team. The recently completed second part of the programme focuses on finance, managing resources, airline strategy, competitiveness and marketing.

?This is a collaboration between two great companies, Emirates and Rolls-Royce, to design a course to help develop managers from different departments and disciplines across the airline who have the potential to be the future leaders of Emirates,? said Nasser Bin Kherbash, Emirates? Divisional Senior Vice President, HR Development & Employee Services. ?We would like to thank Rolls-Royce for helping us to create this opportunity for our UAE nationals, added Mr Kherbash.?

Masooma Hassan, Emirates? Vice President, National Development and Recruitment, who has worked closely with Rolls-Royce to develop the programme, also joined the group in the UK.

The leadership training programme is the first of its kind to be offered in the UAE. The next intake of Emirates? UAE nationals is planned for March 2013.

Emirates carries Rolls-Royce engines on several aircraft types in its fleet; Airbus A330-200, Airbus A340-500 and Boeing 777-300.
