Experts suggest Jubilee party playlist

Industry experts have compiled the perfect Jubilee playlist, including much-loved songs to start any party with a bang.

With the four-day weekend almost here, many people’s thoughts might be turning to their Jubilee celebrations; whether bringing friends and family together on the neighbourhood streets or hiring party venues. London, while likely to be the busiest city, is of course not the only location commemorating the Queen’s milestone anniversary in myriad different ways.

With that in mind, DJ Toby Anstis of Heart Radio and Digital Spy’s Robert Copsey have come up with a fail-safe list of definitive Jubilee party anthems “to get us in the mood”, Copsey claims.

Kicking the night off is ‘Dancing Queen’ by Abba. This was number one in 16 different countries, so there are many who don’t know how it goes. Playing music that appeals to all is one of the best ways to ensure a party is enjoyed by all.

Next, Anstis chooses Take That’s anthemic ‘The Greatest Day’. “It’s going to be a great day so we have to have this one,” he told mirror.co.uk.

“We are going to be celebrating the Queen and her Diamond Jubilee and celebrating all that is good about being British – and they are arguably the most famous boy band from here ever.”

Both Copsey and Anstis select songs by Queen, due to the band’s ‘crowd-pleasing’ reputation. ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ was cited in particular as a big tune that always gets people on the dance floor.

Tracks by ‘proudly’ British artists also made the list, including Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’, Jessie J’s ‘Price Tag’ and the Spice Girls with ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’, to highlight the influence and success of the UK’s music scene.

The playlist concludes with a rousing rendition of ‘God Save The Queen’, digitalspy.co.uk suggests, which has already hit the number one spot on the Official Chart’s classical top 40. Anstis explains: “I have this emotive image of everyone stood up on their feet, waving their flags and cheering.

“It would be the perfect end to a perfect day of celebration.”
