Final stretch and Youth Olympic Games athletes still going strong

Among the successes of Day 11 was Ethiopia?s Mohammed Aman, who won his semi-final of the men?s 800m. ?I am really happy with my performance,? he said. He will go on to race against running great and world-record-holder David Lekuta Rudisha on Thursday. “He’s a tough guy,? Mohammed admitted, ?but I am ready. I have been training for great championships like the Olympics and I am feeling great. If I win, it will be a great story for me and for my country.”

Over at the ExCel, Cuba?s Robeisy Ramirez Carrazana took on Great Britain?s Andrew Selby (and the roars of the British crowds) in the men?s fly quarter-finals and came out on top. “I knew I was going up against him since the last fight, but knowing it would be like that (huge home crowd support), I had to prepare myself,” he said. Having made incredible progress since the Games in Singapore, the 18-year old has hopes for a medal. ?It?s absolutely incredible to be here,? he added, ?I’d like to thank my family and all of my people for all the support I’ve got.”
