Virtuoso, the world?s most important luxury tourism network, presented its annual Best of the Best Awards at the 2012 Virtuoso Travel Week conference, August 12-17, 2012.
Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico has been honoured by renowned luxury travel network Virtuoso as having the “Best of the Best” Family Program of any hotel or resort among its worldwide affiliates. One of only ten awards presented, the Best Family Program was presented to Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita in recognition of its creative offering of activities, special amenities and services designed specifically for family travellers. The award was presented as part of the 2012 Virtuoso Travel Week, one of the most recognized luxury travel trade shows in the international luxury travel market, which took place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The prestigious Best of the Best hotel awards ceremony was held August 15, 2012 in Las Vegas, where honorees were recognized in just ten categories. This centrepiece awards event drew a record number of 1,450 attendees, including some of the biggest names in the hospitality and luxury travel community.
John O?Sullivan, general manager of Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, accepted the award on behalf of his team, saying, “It is not only an honour for us to receive this award from Virtuoso, but an inspiration to keep striving for consistently more creativity and fun in sharing the magical sense of place which is Punta Mita, as we create our family programs.?
Virtuoso Travel Week brings together more than 1,800 travel advisors from Virtuoso?s elite travel agency members in 20 countries, as well as executives from the network?s more than 1,250 preferred travel providers ? hotels, resorts, spas, private islands, villas, cruise lines, private yacht companies, airlines, private jet services, tourism boards and specialty services providers. Approximately 4,000 of the most prominent players in luxury travel participated this year, representing the largest attendance at this event in the past 24 years.
On hand to announce the recipients during the Hotels & Resort Dinner were Virtuoso Chairman and CEO Matthew D. Upchurch; Virtuoso President and COO Kristi Jones; as well as Virtuoso Vice President of Hotels, Destinations & Tours Albert Herrera. Best of the Best award winners will also be featured in the September/October 2012 issue of Virtuoso Life magazine, with a readership of 200,000 upscale, global travellers.

This year, Virtuoso celebrated the 20th anniversary of its renowned Hotels & Resorts Program, now comprised of 975 hotels, resorts, villas and private island retreats in 90 countries. The first of its kind, this program was created for the Virtuoso member agencies and their clientele, and now ranks the most prestigious and longest-running hotel program in the luxury travel industry.
