SHANGHAI – Today, Hilton HHonors, the loyalty program for Hilton Worldwide’s 10 distinct hotel brands, delighted onlookers in Shanghai with a first of its kind musical flash mob. Set along the city’s iconic East Nanjing Road, 80 dancers drew attention to the brand’s official sponsorship of Elton John’s China tour, which will return to Shanghai for one night only on November 23.
“Although unconventional, the flash mob was yet another way to surprise Hilton HHonors members, followers and fans with the message that our loyalty program is about more than just points – it’s about creating exciting experiences,” said Jeff Diskin, senior vice president, global customer marketing, Hilton Worldwide. “Sir Elton John’s return to Shanghai is a rare opportunity for fans in China to see the rock ‘n’ roll legend, and Hilton HHonors is proud to not only be an official sponsor of the concert, but also to share this once-in-a-lifetime event with members.”
A week before the flash mob, the Hilton HHonors official Sina Weibo account (www.weibo.com/hiltonhhonors) conducted a two-part ticket giveaway contest. Fans participated by answering trivia questions related to Elton John and Hilton HHonors and finalists were selected to compete in a photo scavenger hunt at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund or Hilton Shanghai during Sunday brunch. The first four participants who returned to their respective hotel with the correct photos of nearby iconic Shanghai locations received a pair of tickets each to the Elton John Shanghai concert.
Hilton HHonors membership points can be used for free stays at Hilton Worldwide’s more than 3,900 hotels in 90 countries worldwide. Currently, there are 31 hotels across four brands in the Hilton Worldwide portfolio welcoming guests in Greater China: Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels & Resorts and DoubleTree by Hilton.
