Commitment by IHG and owners drives multi-brand expansion and renovations
IHG? (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world?s leading, global hotel companies, today announced renovation plans for upscale and resort properties in key Caribbean markets, alongside recent additions to the region?s existing hotels. Owner and franchisee community continues to demonstrate confidence in IHG?s portfolio of strong brands, growing the Holiday Inn? Brand Family, including Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express? and Holiday Inn Resort?, as well as Crowne Plaza? Hotels & Resorts estate.
IHG continues to deliver on its long-term business strategy to drive guest satisfaction even higher and capture additional market share through investment in its Holiday Inn Resort Aruba property to renovate the 597-room resort destination, a landmark property on the Island. Renovations and upgrades to the facility further IHG?s efforts to expand presence in top resort markets around the world. The Holiday Inn Resort brand caters primarily to leisure guests seeking practical indulgence and relaxation.
Demonstrating loyalty to IHG?s brands, the owners of the InterContinental? San Juan hotel have committed to a multi-phase refurbishment of the 398-room beachfront, luxury resort that commenced in fall 2012. During the first phase, updates will include new guestroom bedding and d?cor, as well as the complete remodeling of each meeting room, providing even more comfortable and spacious accommodations.

Additionally, four new hotels were signed into the active hotel development pipeline within the past 12 months, including:
- Crowne Plaza? San Juan ? New-build?264-room hotel, expected to? break ground in late 2012 and open in 2014 at the new Mall of San Juan multi-use retail and entertainment complex
- Holiday Inn Isla Verde ? New build 225-room hotel, to be managed by IHG, expected to open in 2015, conveniently located in proximity to the capital district and international airport
- Holiday Inn Express Nassau, Bahamas ? 58-room conversion property, expected to break ground before the end of 2012 and open in summer 2013
- Holiday Inn Resort Grand Cayman ? 117-room conversion resort, near the island?s renowned Seven Mile Beach, expected to open in early 2013
Currently, IHG has 80 hotels open in its Latin America and Caribbean region, with 19 additional hotels in the development pipeline representing more than 3,100 new rooms.
