InterContinental Hotels & Resorts named Europe?s Leading Hotel Brand at World Travel Awards 2012

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has won the prestigious World Travel Award 2012 for Europe?s Leading Hotel Brand for the second year running at the World Travel Awards Europe Ceremony on 6 October 2012.

The award, which is voted for by the general public and travel professionals worldwide recognises InterContinental Hotels & Resorts? commitment to excellence. Other hotel brands in the category included Hilton Hotels, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, and W Hotels Worldwide.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is the first hotel brand to offer global concierge websites and videos tailored specifically to the hotel?s location. Going one step further to protect its local destinations, the brand partnered with UNESCO and National Geographic for Responsible Business Week last month to help preserve the unique natural and cultural sites close to their 169 hotels.

The World Travel Awards were launched in 1993 to acknowledge excellence in the travel and tourism industry, and is described by the Wall Street Journal as ?the Oscars of the Travel Industry?. The results are based on 167,000 travel agencies, industry professionals and the general public from more than 160 countries.
