Jubilee party food should be traditional, suggests blog

If Jubilee party revellers are not sure what to serve at their event, they should just think of what traditional British food is to them.

According to the Live Life for Less blog on guardian.co.uk, there are all sorts of options that people can choose from if they are organising a party for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee over the first weekend of June.

Cupcakes, trifles, tarts, biscuits, strawberries and cream are among the desserts that Brits could lay out on the tables at the function venues they use for the celebration.

“Jubilee eats are about tradition. Think homemade pork pies, scotch eggs, British cheeses with chutneys, grapes and crackers, egg and cress sandwiches and miniature Cornish pasties – and no Jubilee celebration is complete without coronation chicken,” the Live Life for Less blogger remarked.

For those who want to serve up something a little unusual – yet very British – on the day of their party, liverpoolecho.co.uk reporter Jade Wright suggested making a meal using the canned meat spam.

Ms Wright pointed out that spam was a popular food at the time when Queen Elizabeth II first ascended to the throne in 1952, making it the ideal cuisine for the occasion. She recommended making spam sandwiches or using the pre-cooked meat to make canapés.
