Kids LiveWell media relations recognized by PR Daily and PR News

The National Restaurant Association’s Kids LiveWell? program recently received honorable mentions at the 2012 PR Daily Awards and PR News’ Platinum PR Awards.

“Kids LiveWell has had a groundbreaking year and we are thrilled that the program continues to be recognized,” said Sue Hensley, the NRA’s senior vice president of public affairs communications. “This first-of-its-kind program started with 19 brands and has now expanded to over 112 brands at nearly 30,000 locations nationwide. We look forward to continuing this positive momentum.”

The awards ceremony for the first-ever PR Daily Awards took place Sept. 11 at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., where Kids LiveWell, along with Mayo Clinic and Shepherd Center, received an honorable mention in the category of Best Fitness/Health Campaign.

The Platinum PR Awards honor PR initiatives in more than 40 categories, including media relations, crisis management and social media. At the Sept. 14 ceremony in New York City, Kids LiveWell received an honorable mention in both of its nomination categories, Media Relations and PR on a Shoestring.

“The Platinum PR Awards serve annually as a celebration of the year’s top PR teams and as an ideal showcase for their most successful campaigns,” Steve Goldstein, editorial director of PR News said in news release. “There were so many terrific entries this year, and once again we were reminded that creativity and inspiration rule in communications.”

In May, Kids LiveWell received The American Society of Association Executives’ (ASAE) 2012 Gold Circle Award for the media relations campaign that kicked off the program in July 2011. Kids LiveWell has generated nearly 200 million media impressions, including curtain-raiser stories in USA Today, Associated Press, and a segment on Good Morning America.

The NRA developed Kids LiveWell with Healthy Dining, which received a Health Information Resource Center Web Health Award nod for its HealthyDiningFinder.com website.
