Sir Richard Branson is making it easier than ever for delegates from Manchester to travel down to London for a conference.
The business magnate has announced that airline Virgin Atlantic will be introducing routes from Heathrow to Manchester from March 2013, operating three daily flights using Airbus A319 aircraft, reports mirror.co.uk.
Manchester is seen as a key regional airport in England, with 65 per cent of holidaymakers who travel between the two cities then go on to travel to a further destination.
In addition, it provides a useful link between Manchester and some of the best meeting venues London has to offer.
The airline also hopes to fly to Aberdeen and Edinburgh if it can get its hands on slots which International Airlines Group may have to give up as part of the firm’s takeover of BMI.
Steve Ridgway, Virgin Atlantic Chief Executive, commented on the new route to travelbite.co.uk: “Our new service will provide strong competition to overly-dominant BA; keep fares low and give consumers a genuine choice of airline to fly to Heathrow and beyond.
“We changed the way consumers view long haul travel with our unique approach to flying and we are now in the position to do that to short haul travel too,” he added.
