Lufthansa kicks off football competition on Facebook

As the "Airline for Sport,? Lufthansa flies the German national football team and its fans to their destinations during the Euro 2012 championship. To coincide with the tournament and kick off the 2012 summer sports season, Lufthansa is launching a marketing campaign with the motto of ?Take off for glory.? The campaign will revolve around a Facebook competition which gives participants the opportunity to win attractive prizes. Starting on June 6,  2012, football fans can visit the Lufthansa Facebook page at www.facebook.com/lufthansa to register for the Lufthansa Football Bingo competition and reserve their personal bingo cards and a chance for a prize. During the European Football Championship from June 8 to July 1, the bingo players will keep their fingers crossed and hope for a win.

To reserve up to eight additional bingo cards and increase their chances of winning, participants can invite friends to play the game or use special promotional codes distributed at selected German airports as well as through the Lufthansa customer newsletter and Twitter. Events like ?Germany reaches the quarter final? are displayed on the bingo cards. The more events actually occur during Euro 2012, the closer the participants will get to winning a prize.

The prizes include six pairs of airline tickets to one of the countries participating in the European Football Championship as well as over 15,000 instant wins and attractive daily prizes from Lufthansa WorldShop. The bingo competition will be accompanied by other promotions at the airports in Munich and Frankfurt to get fans fired up for the major sporting event. And if that weren’t enough, the second round of the Lufthansa Sport Bingo competition will start when the Olympics kick off. Then three pairs of tickets to Rio de Janeiro or to one of the other Lufthansa destinations worldwide will be up for grabs.

The Lufthansa Facebook page went live in December 2009 and has offered 24/7 customer service ever since. Photos, videos and news from the world of Lufthansa are posted to the Facebook page along with inspiring travel ideas, tips and up-to-date information on everything to do with flying. In addition to Facebook, Lufthansa is active on other social media platforms like Twitter, YouTube and Xing.

Lufthansa has been a partner to the sporting world for many years. The company has been the official partner to the German Football Federation (DFB) since 2005, and it flies the German national football teams and other members of the federation to all sporting events. Lufthansa is also an official co-partner to the German Olympic Sports Confederation.
