Marriott International Launches Careers Presence on Chinese Social Networking Site

To highlight its commitment to the China market and support its need to hire 30,000 employees in the country by the end of 2014, Marriott International announced today the launch of its job seeker-focused presence on the Chinese social networking site, Weibo, The launch on Weibo kicked off with ?Our Hotel Rocks? ,a video contest in which Marriott?s mainland China hotels participated.

Through Our Hotel Rocks, Marriott?s Mainland China hotels created and submitted one-minute videos to share why their particular hotel is a great place to work. Thirty-seven videos were submitted from locations ranging from Shanghai, Sanya and Guangzhou, to Beijing, Huizhou and Shenzhen. Eight finalists were selected by an internal panel of judges and from June 25, 2012 to July 1, 2012, public voting on Weibo will determine which hotel?s video is best.

According to Jim Pilarski, Marriott International?s Chief Human Resources Officer for the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, ?Our Hotel Rocks? has been an amazing employee engagement initiative that highlights the creativity and passion we all have for working at Marriott. One of our core values is putting people first ? so having our own employees capture the spirit of our culture through videos is only natural. Their voices are key to sharing why we love working at Marriott with potential and future talent.?

?Providing a vehicle for job seekers to engage with us directly is important to Marriott,? said Pilarski. ?We know that talented individuals consider many employers, and Weibo and other social networks are part of our commitment to offer direct dialog with talent who are interested in joining our family.?

Marriott is consistently recognized as a top employer with superior business operations, which it conducts based on five core values and a ?spirit to serve? culture: put people first, pursue excellence, embrace change, act with integrity, and serve our world. The same spirit is being extended to the millions of job seekers who annually seek out Marriott as a career destination and over time continue to engage in dialog with the company on its social media channels.

Marriott will more than double its number of hotels in China by the end of 2014 to more than 100.

Videos from the Our Hotel Rocks contest can be viewed and voted upon through the Marriott Careers page on Weibo.
