The eastern lawn of Park Live presented by British Airways has been dubbed ?Marry Mound? following a number of engagement proposals during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
BA Lawn Hosts manning the area noticed the romantic hostpot when they heard loud cheers from the hill. Since then they estimate 25 proposals have taken place, with an average of at least two a day. The area, located at the top of hill just under the Olympic rings, has attracted a daily crowd of fans queuing to have their photo under the symbolic rings.
British Airways site manager Adam Juniper said; “Park Live presented by British Airways has been a major destination for tens of thousands of fans coming here daily. We always knew it would be a hit for supporters – but we never thought it would become a romantic haven too!
“The peak time for proposals has been around 7.30 and 8.30pm when the sun sets in the background, offering beautiful light and views across the Olympic Park.?
The lawn was dubbed ?Marry Mound? inspired by Wimbledon?s sporting fanzone ?Murray Mound?. It can be located on the east side of Park Live presented by British Airways, near to the Velodrome.
BA Lawn hosts have been looking after some 10,000 guests every day at Park Live which boosts a giant LED screen showing all the action live.
