Kazakhstan has the largest economy in Central Asia due to its enormous oil reserves and richness in other natural resources. Since the establishment of Astana as Kazakhstan?s capital city, the population has more than doubled and is expected to top one million by 2030. The city is seen as one of the world?s biggest construction projects, designed to make Astana the absolute centre of Central Asia and calling for new hotel developments in the future. Climatically, Astana is the second coldest capital in the world after Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
