The details of this summer?s Classic Hits Winery Tour were announced this morning, with an amazing line-up of home grown talent confirmed. Villa Maria is excited to announce that it will once again be hosting both the Auckland and the Marlborough editions of the extremely popular Winery Tour. The tour will be hitting 16 locales across New Zealand in February and March 2013 for 17 shows. Villa Maria?s Marlborough vineyard will play host to these Kiwi icons on Sunday 24 February, with Aucklanders getting their turn to be entertained at Villa Maria Estate in Manukau on Saturday 2 March.
The Classic Hits Winery Tour features 100% Kiwi talent, with Wellington seven-piece dub legends and crowd favourites Fat Freddy?s Drop set to headline the event. They will be joined by the formidable female trio of Anika Moa, Boh Runga, and Hollie Smith; as well as New Zealand legends The Adults (Jon Toogood, Julia Deans, and Shayne Carter).
In addition, A Day on the Green will return to Villa Maria?s Auckland vineyard this summer, with the international and Kiwi Summer Edition concerts both being held in December. International acts Simple Minds, Devo, and The Church will rock out amongst the vines on Saturday 15 December, and the following day the Kiwi Summer Edition featuring The Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties, and the Wellington International Ukelele Orchestra will complete an action packed weekend at Villa Maria Estate.
On Saturday January 19, A Day on the Green will rock Villa Maria Estate again with an all-star line-up, with iconic English rocker Elvis Costello & The Imposters headlining the event in their only New Zealand show. Kiwi talent Don McGlashan and Tim Finn and Aussie James Reyne will complete the line-up.
Villa Maria founder and owner Sir George Fistonich says that the concerts are always highlights of the summer season at the Auckland and Marlborough vineyards.
?We just love hosting summer concerts at Villa Maria Estate. I?m excited about this year?s line-up, and I know everyone will have such a great time enjoying the music with a glass of wine in our beautiful vineyards?.
