Zara Phillips MBE to attend Gold Coast?s Magic Millions Carnival and Raceday
Zara Phillips MBE, London Olympic silver medallist and member of the British Royal Family, will visit Australia for the Magic Millions Carnival on Queensland?s Gold Coast in January 2013. Daughter of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, Phillips is a former European individual and team Gold medallist as well as individual World Champion in 2006. She will attend the Magic Millions Carnival and Raceday on 12 January 2013, where the world?s first women?s only incentive, Magic Millions Racing Women (MMRW) 2YO Classic, will be run for prize money of A$500,000. Construction begins on Sydney?s own Wet?n?Wild water park
Construction has begun on a new?Wet?n?Wild?water park in Western Sydney, which is being promoted as the best of its kind in the world. The park is due to open in Prospect in December 2013 and will cost A$115 million to build. It will feature 42 slides and attractions, including a 150 metre surf pool and a 70m wave pool. Owners Village Road Show Limited anticipate that Wet?n?Wild Sydney will attract 900,000 visitors a year, including 20 per cent from overseas and interstate, and generate more than A$500 million for the NSW economy in its first 10 years of operation. Qantas announces new chauffeur service
Qantas?will launch a new chauffeur service for Qantas travellers as part of its proposed global airline partnership with?Emirates. Passengers travelling in First and Business on Qantas flights greater than 12 hours long will be collected in a luxury vehicle and driven to the airport to meet their flight. On arrival at their destination, they will again be met by another chauffeur service and driven to their hotel, office or home. Sydney named as top food destination
Sydney has been named as the third best gastronomic destination in the world, after Tokyo and San Sebastian in northern Spain, by a panel of travel writers and food critics for UK consumer group?Which??Sydney was praised for the Asian and Mediterranean influences in the city?s cuisine and its beauty as a holiday destination. Paris and New York were also on the list, followed by Copenhagen in Denmark and Italy?s Emilia Romagna. The judging criteria included the quality and range of food, gastronomic culture, local markets and the general appeal of the place as a holiday resort.
MasterChef moves to Melbourne
Top-rating Australian television show?MasterChef Australia?is moving to Melbourne after four successful years in Sydney. The cooking show has become a nationwide phenomenon since the first series aired in 2009 and it is now syndicated to around 35 countries worldwide. The show is moving to a new home at Centennial Hall in Melbourne?s Carlton Gardens, where renovations are currently underway. The A$30million production is expected to generate 360 new jobs in the city.
