Scalloway Hotel claims title of most northerly AA Rosette

Scalloway-Hotel-Shetland
Since 1990 the AA has been inspecting and rating restaurants the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.?? This week the AA is pleased to announce it has awarded its most northerly ever AA Rosette to the Scalloway Hotel in the Shetland Isles.

The Scalloway Hotel joins more than 2,000 professionally inspected restaurants, from village inns to smart city eateries in the AA Restaurant scheme.? AA Rosettes are awarded solely by AA Hotel and Restaurant Inspectors with no influence from hotels, restaurants or other guides. The AA Rosette scheme successfully recognises cooking at different levels nationwide. The success or failure in achieving Rosettes is based on at least one visit to a hotel or restaurant. Essentially it?s a snapshot, whereby the entire meal including ancillary items are assessed.? Of all the restaurants across the UK, approximately 10% are of a standard which is worthy of one Rosette and above.

1045 miles south of the Scalloway Hotel, diners will find the most southerly AA Rosette holding restaurant, The Green Island Restaurant in St Clements Bay, Jersey.

In the miles in between these most northerly and southerly restaurants restaurant goers will find over 1500 AA Rosette awarded restaurants in England, around 100 in Wales, almost 240 in Scotland as well as those in Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and the Channel Islands.

AA Hotel Services manager Simon Numphud said, ?Awarding the Scalloway Hotel with their first AA Rosette means that we can truly say that diners can benefit from the knowledge of finding excellent food wherever they are in the British Isles.?
