The International Hotel School?s Cape Town campus has launched its new one year Food and Beverage Specialisation programme, headed by programme coordinator Wendy-Ann Gietzmann and trainer, Lindy Jacobs. The programme is geared towards preparing skilled Food & Beverage experts for the festive season in Cape Town.
In consultation with industry there has been a call for specialist programmes where the student remains in their respective department for the full year of their programme, with intensive, on-the-job training.
On August 5th, a group of 15 students enrolled in the programme, with all of them having completed the compulsory two week induction period. The students have started an intense two month skills training programme which aids in their preparation for employment in the hospitality industry for a six month period over the high season.
City & Guilds Food & Beverage Certificate
This will be followed by the final leg of the programme made up of a three month theory block, assisting them in successfully qualifying with a City & Guilds Food and Beverage Certificate. Students will learn about food and beverage service skills, from food safety and customer care, to techniques such as carvery and flamb?, as well as how to supervise others.
These qualifications are recognised in over 100 countries, so they can help students find work around the world. IHS Cape Town are proud to have these students on board and look forward to a successful year!
