W reportedly coming back to Australia

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is reportedly set to reintroduce its W Hotels Worldwide brand to Australia via a new-build hotel in Melbourne. The Herald Sun reported that the 205-room hotel would be part of a A$180 million (US$163 million) 31-story, 100 m (328 ft) tall building being developed by Jinshan Investments. The building will also include 145 apartments. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Stamford, Connecticut, is reportedly set to manage the hotel. The projected opening date was not disclosed. When contacted by HOTELS Magazine, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide did not confirm or deny the report. Australia has been without a W-branded hotel since The Indian Hotels Co. bought the 100-room W Hotel Sydney in 2005 for A$36 million (US$27 million).
