Joan Bowden Joins the 517-room W Fort Lauderdale in Florida as Director of Spa

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – August 30, 2013?- W Fort Lauderdale welcomes Starwood spa veteran Joan Bowden as the new director of its iconic bliss spa. Bowden’s responsibilities as director of spa will include overseeing marketing and promotions, retail initiatives and operations of the 4,000 sq. ft. facility featuring a luxe nail lounge, pampering treatment rooms, men’s and women’s lounges that open on to an outdoor terrace, a retail boutique and a legendary brownie buffet.

Bowden has unparalleled multi-property experience in the Fort Lauderdale spa scene, most recently serving as the director of spa at The Westin Beach Resort and Spa, Fort Lauderdale. There she was a part of the pre-opening hotel management team, responsible for creating the spa brochure, developing a spa budget, choosing retail products, as well as interviewing, hiring, and training associates. Prior, Bowden served as the director of spa at both The St. Regis Resort Fort Lauderdale and the Atlantic Hotel in Fort Lauderdale.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the team here at W Fort Lauderdale,” said Bowden, “I look forward to promoting the bliss spa as one of the many anything-but-typical elements that continues to make this premier Fort Lauderdale hotel South Florida’s newest and hottest locale.”

The 517-room hotel is ideally positioned directly on Fort Lauderdale Beach overlooking the crystal blue Atlantic Ocean on one side and yacht-lined, scenic intracoastal waterways on the other. In addition to the bliss spa, the hotel is also home to Gerber Group’s stylish Whiskey Blue and Living Room, Stephen Starr’s Steak 954, the only Ted Gibson salon outside of New York City, as well as two infinity-edge pools, and WET Deck, where guests can exclusively enjoy bliss poolside services.
