Richard Green, Vice President, Association Sales & Industry Relations to retire From Marriott International

After 26 years with Marriott International (NASDAQ:MAR), Richard Green, vice president of association sales & industry relations, will retire at the end of the year.?? As a Marriott sales leader, Green is credited for building deep and trusting client relationships that resulted in strong customer preference across the company?s portfolio of brands.? He is highly regarded as a strong customer advocate for the association meetings industry.

?To many customers and industry organizations, Richard is the ?face of Marriott?.? We will all miss his genuine passion for our business, and the dedication and commitment that he demonstrates each and every day,? said David Townshend, senior vice president, global sales, Marriott International.

?I?d like to personally recognize and thank Richard for his years of service and for the significant contributions that he had made to Marriott and the meetings industry,? said Stephanie Linnartz, executive vice president and chief marketing & commercial officer, Marriott International.

Green?s distinguished career includes service on a number of key industry boards and committees, including the ASAE Board of Directors, on which he currently serves, and PCMA Board of Directors.? He has chaired The Destination Marketing Association International Foundation, served on the Boards of the AMC Institute, The Exhibition Industry Foundation, The Center for Association Leadership and chaired The ASAE Foundation Board.? Green also was the first Commissioner for the CIC?s Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX).

In 1995, he was honored by ASAE when he became an ASAE Fellow, one of only 90 non-association executives in the country to earn this recognition.? In 2004, PCMA honored him with their Professional Achievement Award, and in 2006, ASAE and The Center for Association Leadership awarded him their Academy of Leaders Award, their highest award for a non-association professional.

Green began his career with Marriott while attending the University of Denver?s School of Hotel & Restaurant Management, as a front desk clerk at the Denver Marriott Southeast.? Over the years he has held a variety of sales leadership positions including director of association sales at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis and national account executive with Marriott?s National Group Accounts Organization.

?My career achievements can all be tracked back to the wonderful Marriott platform upon which I could grow. I retire with incredibly fond memories and many lifelong friends,? said Green.
