WAILEA, HI., September 19, 2013?- Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort on Maui, names Scott Boyer as its new director of sales and marketing. Boyer will lead and direct the development and execution of strategic sales and marketing plans and initiatives to maximize Grand Wailea’s service and profitability.
“Boyer’s more than 20 years of global senior sales executive experience is what made him the right person for this very important position,” said Jerry Gibson, Hilton Worldwide area vice president. “We know his expertise will help us grow presence in the international markets while retaining our visibility and core client in the U.S.”
Boyer’s ability to aggressively identify opportunities, develop focus and provide tactical business solutions has resulted in several high-profile positions in both the United States and Asia. Prior to Grand Wailea, he served as director of sales and marketing in five-star hotels including Four Seasons Hotel Pudong, Shanghai and Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta; Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel, The Ritz Carlton Osaka and JW Marriott Seoul.
As the new director of sales and marketing for one of the top resorts in the Hawaiian Islands, Boyer is focused on cultivating a unified team and enhancing Grand Wailea’s already-strong presence in the travel and tourism sector through direct sales, print ads and social media. Boyer is diving into his new role with vigor and excitement at the same time being mindful of the new environment and culture that he has joined.
“My success comes from the ability to listen and understand before moving forward and then building strong relationships based upon what I have learned,” said Boyer. “These skill sets have always served me well.”
Another set of skills Boyer is looking to add in his repertoire is paddle boarding and scuba diving as he adapts to island lifestyle. In comparison to his recent home of Shanghai with a population of 23 million, he, along with his wife and four daughters, have already embraced the fresh, clean air and relaxed lifestyle of Maui.
Boyer studied business at the University of South Carolina-Columbia. He values the friendships he has built over the years as his proudest career achievements.
