Emirates prepares for Stockholm launch

STOCKHOLM,18thJune 2013?Emirates airline is stepping up its preparations for the launch of its Stockholm service – a move set to boost its presence in Northern Europe. Emirates gave the local Swedish travel trade and media a preview of the airline?s award winning hospitality.

Emirates will provide a daily, non-stop passenger?flights from Stockholm?to its hub in Dubai from 4th?September. The new direct service, bringing more convenience and reduced travelling times to passengers, will be served by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, offering eight private suites in First Class, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 304 seats in Economy Class.

In the morning, representatives from Emirates led by Hubert Frach, Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations West, met local Swedish media at the Grand Hotel.

“Sweden?s capital Stockholm is a key city for Emirates in Northern Europe. Emirates will provide significant links for trade and tourism with one-stop flights to the Far East, West Asia, Middle East, and Australia and beyond through our Qantas partnership, with a product and service proposition that represents superb value for money,? said Mr Frach.

?Ahead of the launch of our new service, we are off to a promising start and we expect bookings to grow. Events such as the Emirates product presentation will help raise awareness about the airline and drive sales. Dubai is a well-known destination for Swedish travellers along with Bangkok and Beijing, which are popular destinations in Asia for leisure and business. These travel patterns provide a solid foundation to build upon with the help of our six-continent route network,? added Mr Frach.

In the evening, almost 400 guests from the travel trade converged at Cirkus for a high-profile product presentation event to introduce the airline and Dubai. The evening activities were hosted by Petra Mede, a popular TV personality, and the Cotton Club band headed up the entertainment. Guests were also able to experience the Emirates award-winning First Class suite, which was on display.

From 4th?September Emirates? flight EK158 will depart Stockholm at 1355hrs arriving in Dubai at 2255hrs and EK 157 will depart Dubai at 0715hrs* and land in Stockholm at 1200hrs the same day.

Emirates?operates services to 134 destinations in 77 countries from Dubai. Earlier this year Emirates launched services to Warsaw, Algiers and Haneda. Along with Stockholm, Emirates has announced plans to launch services Clark in the Philippines beginning on 1 October; the same day as it begins its transatlantic route between Milan and New York.

A total of 130 Swedish nationals are employed across The Emirates Group, including 52 Cabin Crew.
