A new InterCityHotel due for completion by the end of 2013 is under development in the Lehrter district of central Berlin, just to the South of the city’s Central Station. The hotel will offer 412 modern rooms of 21 m2 in size, a restaurant and a BistroLounge. Its conference area will extend over 800 m2 including foyer and ancillary areas. The 10 conference rooms vary in size between 30 m2 and 80 m2. 3 of the rooms can be combined to create a hall of 220 m2, meaning that larger events can also be accommodated without difficulty. The InterCityHotel “FreeCityTicket” will also be included in the room price, enabling guests to use Berlin’s public transport system free of charge.
”The 412 rooms provided by the InterCityHotel at Berlin Central Station will make it the largest InterCityHotel. The quality, service and comfort on offer will also mean that it will act as the flagship establishment of the brand”, explains Puneet Chhatwal, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG. “It will be the third InterCityHotel to open in the Berlin region. We are committing ourselves to a market which continues to enjoy excellent growth, and this particular location within the direct vicinity of the capital city’s main railway station is absolutely ideal.”
The hotel, which will be 30 metres in height, has been designed by the architectural firm of Reichel+Stauth on the basis of an urban development concept and will feature an impressive external facade in natural stone.
The property company CA Immo is acting as the developer and investor for the project. The 8-storey building will comprise a total floor space of 19,800 m2 above ground. The hotel will also be able to offer around 70 parking spaces.
The hotel consultancy company Feuring is acting in an advisory capacity.
