Hard Rock casino project in West Springfield would create 3,500 permanent jobs, consultant says

WEST SPRINGFIELD???Hard Rock International?Tuesday afternoon released an initial study that states the impact of the $800 million resort casino complex it would like to build here would result in the creation of 3,500 permanent jobs in Hampden County.

The report is by Pro Forma Advisors of Los Angeles, which specializes in economic analysis and research for the hospitality and entertainment industries. It was scheduled to be released before the mayor?s casino advisory group later in the day.

John H. Turner, the partner with the firm who led the three-month study, said of those jobs, about 2,800 positions would be at the casino and the rest would be created by the ripple effect of having the casino in the area.

The report also states that employees, who will be paid an average of $50,000 a year, will benefit from total annual earnings of more than $173 million.
