Honolulu edges New York as priciest U.S. city for summer visitors

Honolulu is the most expensive U.S. destination this summer, while Orlando hotels will have the biggest hotel price increase of any U.S. city, TripAdvisor said in its TripIndex Cities survey.

In Honolulu, an overnight stay in a four-star hotel, a two-course dinner with wine, and taxi fares to and from the airport will cost on average $504.94 this summer, edging out New York City?s $504.25.

Boston, San Francisco and Chicago round out the top five priciest U.S. destinations this sumer. Las Vegas is the cheapest of major destinations at $272.94.

Meanwhile, Orlando hotel prices this summer will surge 33% from a year earlier, while Denver and Honolulu hotel prices will be up 32% and 29%, respectively, according to TripAdvisor.
