The hospitality industry offers a wide array of jobs from coffee baristas to travel retailers, and front of house to stewarding; the sector is a bustling boutique of jobs in a society in need of work.
The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies List 2013 has shown the industry to be more than successful this year with a number of new entries and climbers. Companies such as Holiday Extras (19th), Expedia (22nd), The Savoy, a Fairmont Hotel (39th) and Barrhead Travel (67th) have all been recognised as companies in which employees are extremely satisfied working for.
The survey is known for its rigorous testing approach and asks questions such as how challenged employees are, employee relations, manager relations, and how happy employees are with their workload, pay and benefits.
Not only has the hospitality sector made an impact on The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies list, it has also made an outstanding contribution to The Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies. IHG has made a notable contribution to the list positioned at number three and also being awarded ?Best Improver? for climbing 11 places in the Best Companies employee survey after being the official hotel provider for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Other big names include Marriott Hotels International (7th), Whitbread (10th), and Hilton Hotels (22nd).
The survey is not just about being rated top but is about giving prestige to all companies acknowledged, thus giving the hospitality sector great value and presenting all those involved a sense of pride and achievement for the effort they put into their workplace. Making the list doesn?t just give recognition but also opportunities to grow; potential employees will be attracted and year on year results gives companies the chance to really grow and benchmark themselves.
Ufi Ibrahim, Chief Executive of the BHA said: ?Having such a notable presence on The Sunday Times Best 100 Companies List reinforces the fact that the hospitality is an industry with so much to offer prospective employees.?
