Kangethe, who started as a food runner in a Marriott restaurant, taps Marriott International?s tuition reimbursement every year, having earned her bachelor?s degree and delved deep into a master?s degree during her 16 years with the company. She also takes full advantage of her discounts on Marriott hotels and vacation packages, and her youngest daughter goes to a day care that offers Marriott employees a 20 percent discount.

Marriott offers special benefits that support hourly associates. These include training and promotion of hourly workers (more than 3,000 managers began their careers at Marriott in hourly positions, in addition, thousands more moved laterally, gaining new career experiences); innovation in workplace flexibility and scheduling practices; and multiple programs to help hourly associates gain skills that they say have made an incredible impact in their work and personal lives.
