New high-end hotel set to open in Bahrain

Hospitality News: New high-end hotel set to open in Bahrain

New high-end hotel set to open in BahrainA multi-million dinar hotel with the most expensive room in Bahrain is due to open over the Eid holiday, a report said.

The Domain, located in the Diplomatic Area, will cater to high-end clients with basic rooms ranging from BD110 ($290) to BD4,000 a night, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The hotel has stepped away from conventional five-star trends and guests will be checked in by their own room manager and introduced to their private butler.

Rooms are fully decked out with hidden televisions, bathtubs overlooking the city and every electronic device linked to a tablet, allowing them to do everything from opening the curtains to ordering room service.

The hotel also features game rooms, cigar lounges, conference centres, an Anthology Media Lounge and customised mini fridges for each room.

Design

Owned by Chic and Unique Hotels Group, the hotel has sought to keep a local flavour and employed Bahrainis to design the hotel and all its furniture.

“This is not just a hotel it is a social club,” said The Domain managing director Patrick De Groot.

“There are nine social places in the hotel including restaurants, lounges, night spots and a whole lot more. For example, each restaurant is focused on socialising, not just the food; food is served to the table not the person.

“It will make the experience more about the people you are with than just the food, which we hope will bring more people to the table.”

Taking socialisation to the next level, the hotel has also employed a social manager who will discreetly use details provided by guests to arrange social meetings.

“We have done some research and found that for instance single business women will usually order their food to their rooms,” said De Groot.

“Our social manager can find maybe three ladies in the same field and invite them to try a new dish or drink which will give guests a chance to meet each other.

“Also we have created an application for guests that can be downloaded to their phone and as part of this app, there will be a chat room where guests can talk amongst each other and even create chat groups for more private conversations.”

The hotel has put great emphasis on its food and 65 of its 320 staff are chefs from all corners of the world, including a Japanese master chef and a French master chocolatier.

“The hotel will be opening its doors to the public for the first time this Eid,” said The Domain director of sales and marketing Rogier Van Zeventer.

“For its opening there will be three restaurants open – two French and one Japanese. Work on the hotel is still in progress and the rest of the social areas will be open by September.”
