Qatar Airways will increase its weekly schedule between Doha and Nairobi to 18 services.
The West Asian carrier will include an additional four weekly flights between the Qatari capital, Doha and the Kenyan capital, Nairobi from 1 September 2013, utilising its A320 aircraft.
?From a business perspective, it will give increased passenger capacity, which will contribute positively towards the economic growth of our country,? Kenya?s East African Affairs commerce and tourism cabinet secretary Phyllis Kandie said.
The demand for both business and leisure travel to and from Nairobi has amplified in recent months, considering Kenya?s economic growth of 4.8 percent since 2012.
?As a travel destination, Nairobi has grown in popularity over the last few years,? Qatar Airways country manager Kenya Clifford Christopher said.
?Tourists from all over the world are increasingly flocking to the capital city as an entry point to Kenya and a gateway to East Africa.?
Kenya has an aim of boosting arrivals to three million tourists per year by 2017.
