Starwood plans to double W Hotels in Asia

W Hotels Worldwide has announced its intention to more than double the brand’s presence in Asia by late 2018.

Recently launching the W Hotel brand in Singapore and Bangkok, the group has signalled it will open another eleven properties in Asian gateway cities bringing its total to 20 W Hotels.

More than half of the brand’s proposed worldwide openings are planned for the Asia Pacific.

W Hotel’s Guangzhou property, the 317-room W Guangzhou Hotel & Residences is due to open shortly, the first for the group in mainland China.

Also in the pipeline for Asia in 2014, are the 600-room W Shanghai The Bund, the 340-room W Beijing, the 330-room W Changsha.

The group has announced the brand will be launched in India with the opening of the 105-room W Retreat & Spa Goa, followed by the 325-room W Mumbai.

In 2016, W Hotels will open another India property with the 581-guestroom W Noida Delhi NCR. Also planned for 2016 is the 300-room W Jakarta and the 150-room Kuala Lumpur.

W Hotels will complete its current round of expansion in 2017 with the opening of the 225-room W Delhi NCR Gurgaon in India and the 366-room Suzhou in the Jiangsu Province of Eastern China.
