The Gateway Hotels & Resorts to open 45-50 hotels in India in three years

The Gateway Hotels & Resorts, a full-service upscale hotel by The Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), and which operates 21 hotels in India and one in Colombo, is looking at opening 45-50 hotels across the country in three years. The company aims to operate 100 hotels under its India portfolio in six years. The upcoming properties will be located in Chennai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Raipur, Corbett (Uttarakhand), Faridabad, Gondia (Maharashtra), Ludhiana, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Navi Mumbai, Shirdi (Maharashtra), Jalandhar, Simla, Sriperumbudur and Kochi. This information was revealed by Prabhat Verma, COO, The Gateway Hotels & Resorts, at a press conference in Hubli during the launch of The Gateway Hotel Lakeside Hubli?the 101th Taj hotel in India and the fourth Gateway Hotel in Karnataka. The property is owned by RN Shetty Group and will be managed by IHCL.

Verma informed, ?Currently, we have 1,986 rooms operational in India under The Gateway Hotels & Resorts brand and look at operating 2,700 rooms by next year. Having launched the Gateway brand in 2008, The Gateway Hotels & Resorts is at an evolving stage, and hence we have not restricted ourselves to a particular city. We will be opening our properties at locations that demand a Gateway hotel brand and suit Gateway brand standards. We are looking at opening Gateway Resorts at leisure destinations.?
