The Peninsula Shanghai has been recognised as the world?s top business hotel for the second consecutive year by US-based Travel+Leisure magazine.
The results of the annual World?s Best Business Hotels survey are published in the December 2013 issue, which features the premier hotels for business travellers in cities around the world as voted for by its readers. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the prominent role of The Peninsula Shanghai in promoting hospitality excellence in China, which is predicted by the Global Business Travel Association to become the world?s largest business travel market by 2016.
The Peninsula Shanghai topped Travel+Leisure?s World?s Best Business Hotels list, with an impressive score of 97.27 out of 100.
The magazine?s review of the hotel commends ?the 235 guest rooms that combine embossed glass lamps and black-lacquer screens with 21st-century amenities. All come with VoIP phones, portable master control panels, and spa tubs with music and light settings.? Every year, the readers of Travel+Leisure ? a publication that is widely recognised as a leading global authority on travel and tourism trends ? are asked to nominate the hotels that represent the very best in worldwide business travel.
Respondents are asked to rate hotels on room quality and amenities, facilities for business travellers, location, service standards, restaurants and food, and overall value. The Travel+Leisure editorial team screens all respondents, and responses from any identified travel-industry professionals who completed the survey are eliminated from the final tally.
?Being voted as the world?s best business hotel for a second successive year by a respected authority like Travel+Leisure is a great achievement. This is one of the most coveted awards in the global travel industry,? said Joseph W.Y. Chong, General Manager of The Peninsula Shanghai. ?Winning this title proves that the hospitality industry in China can now compete with the very best in the world. It provides us with extra motivation as a team to deliver world-class standards of comfort and service supported by cutting-edge proprietary technology to business travellers in Shanghai, which is the primary financial and commercial centre in Mainland China.?
In addition to the success of The Peninsula Shanghai, six other Peninsula hotels were also voted for the second year amongst the Top Hotels by City in their respective destinations ? Tokyo, Beverly Hills, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Beijing and Chicago.
