The Taj Hotels, Resorts & Palaces will rebrand their two landmark properties in the city of London with prominence to ?Taj? branding? from the New Year.? With the rebranding, 51 Buckingham Gate ? Taj Suites & Residences will become ?Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites & Residences?; and Crowne Plaza London St. James? will become St James?? Court ? A Taj Hotel from January 7, 2014.
The UK was one of the first Western markets where the Taj Group established their? presence in the early 1980s and St. James? Court was the oldest among the properties acquired during the initial international expansion drive of the Taj Group. Located in the heart of Westminster, near the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Whitehall, these hotels are a short walk from Buckingham Palace and St. James? Park.Speaking about the rebranding, Digvijay Singh, General Manager for Taj London properties said that the exercise is the demonstration of Taj Group?s confidence in the buoyancy of the luxury hospitality market in London and specifically the area around Victoria, which is undergoing significant investment, growth and development. ?In the area surrounding the hotels, ?2.2 billion is being spent on new offices, apartments and high profile retail space,? Singh said.? ?Today, the UK comprises 12 per cent? of foreign tourist arrivals to India, the home market of the Taj Group. Europe is the primary source market for corporate and leisure travel across the Taj Group, led by the UK, which contributes over 2 million room nights across the group.? As such, having the Taj luxury brand, produce and service offering in London is of fundamental importance to the Taj Group,? Singh commented when asked about the relevance of this rebranding exercise to Taj branding.
