U.S. Tourism to Japan Rises

U.S. Tourism to Japan RisesThe number of visitors to Japan from the United States from January to July this year grew 10.6 percent more than the same period last year, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization. May 2013 marked a monthly high for the number of U.S. tourists visiting Japan, with 74,000 Americans visiting the country, up 13.5 percent from the previous year.

Overall, tourism to Japan jumped by 22 percent, compared to the first half of 2012.

Meanwhile, in Asia overall, the number of visitors from the U.S. declined slightly during the first half of the year, dropping 0.8 percent from the same period in 2012, according to the U.S. Office of Travel and Tourism Industries.
