Alila Hotels and Resorts appoints General Manager

Alila Hotels and Resorts, a luxury operator with boutique hotels and resorts in India and Asia Pacific, has appointed Ian Jones as the General Manager for Alila Seminyak, a new resort due to open in Bali in late 2014.

Hailing from a small town in Aurora, Canada, Ian Jones began his hotel career in a 1,400-room hotel where he filed the keys into the front desk racks ready for the next guest. 30 years later, he has enjoyed an international career spanning four continents and seven countries..

Ian has worked with some of the world?s most well-known hospitality companies, including Starwood, Fairmont, Hilton and, most recently, Orient Express Hotels & Resorts, where he managed The Westcliff hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Ian will bring extensive experience to the new property, which is currently gearing up for its opening towards the end of the year. He will be tasked with introducing the resort into the market, overseeing all operations and managing 240 rooms, which include 72 suites and 69 residences, plus an extensive events space, a Spa Alila and restaurants. In addition, the guest rooms at Alila Seminyak will include ?The Suites?, an exclusive collection of rooms and one penthouse that are available for sale.

Alila Hotels and Resorts was first established in Indonesia over 10 years ago. The group currently has four properties in Bali, namely Alila Villas Uluwatu, Alila Villas Soori, Alila Manggis and Alila Ubud. Alila Seminyak will be its fifth property on the island. Two further properties will be added to the Alila collection in 2014: Alila Jabal Akhdar in Oman, due to open in early April, and Alila Anji, a tranquil lakeside resort in the bamboo forests of Hangzhou, China.
