Gotham Lounge at The Peninsula New York has reopened with a decidedly chic ?Manhattan Deco? aesthetic and updated menu. The newly designed space opened on October 8, 2014 with a delightful new Afternoon Tea plus a menu of light lunch and dinner fare, evening cocktails and irresistible desserts that seamlessly pair with an atmosphere of composed sophistication.
Afternoon Tea
From keeping with tradition to unveiling fresh selections, the new Afternoon Tea menu turns every gathering into a celebration. The legendary Traditional Afternoon Tea features traditional tea sandwiches such as smoked organic Scottish salmon with American caviar on pumpernickel bread; Camembert with lingonberry on walnut bread; and an assortment of sweets include pastries, tartlets and seasonal scones with coddled cream, lemon curd and berry preserve. Traditional Afternoon Tea is $55 per guest.
Afternoon Tea may be enhanced with such options as The Grand Afternoon Tea with Champagne and Caviar is the ultimate Traditional Afternoon Tea for two with a bottle Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne and choice of 1oz American Sterling caviar or Ossetra caviar; and Children?s Afternoon Tea, a fun selection of savory and sweet favorites and endless hot cocoa.
Executive Pastry Chef Deden Putra is responsible for Gotham Lounge?s enchanting dessert menu, with dishes including a Chocolate Hazelnut Entremets with hazelnut sabl?, Pecan Coffee Cake iced in sweet buttermilk and Strawberry Shortcake with house-made whipped cream.
Custom Design
Elegant and intimate, the newly renovated Gotham Lounge is reminiscent of a chic townhouse with a geometric theme in vibrant sapphire, rich chocolate brown and molten chrome. Ideal for small business meetings or personal gatherings, this comfortable lounge includes a bar set against a striking floor-to-ceiling metal lattice and walls adorned with museum-worthy art from a private collector.
Art Collection
A unique co-operation between a private art collector and The Peninsula New York has resulted in a fabulous treat for guests and the public ? ?The Art Exhibition?. Selected artwork is displayed in Gotham Lounge and the public areas of the hotel where guests may appreciate the stunning collection, which rotates throughout the year In addition, each artwork label features a unique QR code, which links to The Peninsula?s website where more in-depth information can be found on each selection.
