Great Hotels of the World announces the latest news from member hotels

Summer is coming, and?Hotel Punta Vodice?is getting ready for the festival season. Croatia is proving to be the hottest European festival destination, with the following three big electronic music events to be held within a short distance of the hotel:

Iberostar launches Michelin-star events at Grand Hotel Mencey

Renowned chef Maria Jose San Roman took part in the first edition of?Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey?s?Women With Star cookery course on March 8. This project comes under the umbrella of Iberostar Chef, a new concept bringing top Spanish chefs to the gastronomic stage at the hotel in Santa Cruz, Tenerife. Maria Jose San Roman is the owner of the Monastrell restaurant in Alicante, and created a culinary offering with extra-virgin olive oil as its main feature. Monastrell is known for the quality of its products, its use of locally sourced ingredients, and the skill of San Roman ? as well as its Michelin star, which it gained in November 2013. Says Oscar Gonzalez, Iberostar?s Director of Marketing for Europe: ?This project has been a step further in the commitment we maintain to offer the best of gastronomy to our guests. We have gathered the best and most avant-garde chefs of our country’s cuisine and thus provided a unique opportunity for all lovers of haute cuisine”.

Courses include: Canary Island cheeses, Ceviche and carpaccio, Ham slicing, Confectionery, Basic pastry, Fresh pasta and sauces, Canary Island creative cuisine and more. These individual themed courses cost E60 per person. There is also the option of hiring the Mencey Cookery Classroom as a single table restaurant. Here, small groups can enjoy a show-cooking demonstration while they have lunch or dinner. This costs E70 per person. The whole Cookery Classroom is also available for hire from E1000.

Chatrium Riverside Hotel?s latest dedication to the environment

Bangkok?s luxury hotel?Chatrium Riverside?has announced the latest stage in its dedicated environmental protection programme ?Think First Think Earth?. The hotel is committed to stocking only paraben-free, biodegradable amenities in its guest rooms. These include a dental set with fully biodegradable toothbrush, shower cap made from corn starch plastic, and more. All items degrade to carbon and water within 24 months once disposed in a landfill, and all come in completely biodegradable cardboard packaging. Chatrium Hotel Riverside offers a wide range of executive suite-style rooms, decorated in a contemporary chic style. Thereare three restaurants (serving everything from Chinese food to local specialities and international dishes), two bars, and a range of leisure facilities including the Nemita Spa and a modern gym. Set on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the hotel is blessed with spectacular views of the city.
