Tourism: Romania to become fashionable destination

Hospitality News: Romania Photo: Manuela Bernauer / pixelio.de Romania will become a fashionable destination not only for Europeans, but also for North Americans and Asians, the general manager of Click2travel travel agency Catalin Mogosanu told Agerpres at the FITUR International Tourism Fair in Madrid on Thursday.

‘We are already on the right track. [The Romanian National Tourism Authority] ANT has a programme ready for compelling promotion on European markets, and the travel agencies intend to become partners of this programme. 12,000 Japanese already visit Romania each year, and tourists from northern countries express their interest in complex tour packages including Romania and the Republic of Moldova,’ Mogosanu said.

Representatives of the 25 companies present at Romania’s FITUR stand estimate that incomings will grow significantly in Romania. Among the country’s strong points as a tourist destination are tracking, adventure tours, and cultural tours.

‘The tourists interested in Romania are between 35 and 90 years old; they prefer circuits through Prahova Valley, northern Moldavia, and Transylvania. Finns are among those eager to discover Romania. For 2015 we have already signed a lavish contract with an organization involved in tourism for senior citizens of Finland, and we are going to offer seven-day packages at approximately 750 euros, with accommodation in 3- and 4-star hotels, to Prahova Valley and Transylvania. Spaniards are also interesting in finding out more about Romania, and here, too, we’re talking about people over 40. Promotion on the Spanish market is all the more important as they travel irrespective of the crisis, and Romania is a relatively cheap destination for Spanish people,’ Mogosanu mentioned.
