Scenic Cruises?will introduce two new ?Space Ships? to its river cruise fleet in 2015. The 169-passenger Scenic Opal and Scenic Jasper will have an unusual new feature ? a ?split pool? on the sun deck will have a typical area for cooling down while the other side has a water stream for swimming laps while staying in place. Also, each ship will feature the Portobello Restaurant, which will be equipped with a moveable glass wall that can be opened to allow for more seating or closed off during inclement weather.
Plus, 85 percent of cabins and suites will have ?Sun Lounges,? which are private walk-out balconies that close off with the push of a button during cool or wet weather. The cabins will have a 32-inch Samsung HD TV linked to a Mac minicomputer with complimentary Internet access. The ships also have double-insulated enclosures and a new configuration for the engines and propellers designed to reduce vibration.
Scenic has released its 2015 cruise program ?due to early-booking demands.? While basing a new ship, Scenic Gem, on the Seine River in France this year, the company will add four new itineraries in France for 2015. The 12-day Bordeaux river cruise takes is preceded by a night in Paris. Longer trips combine the Bordeaux cruise with land stays in Paris and San Sebastion or with the Seine River cruise.
