AUSTIN, TX. ? The Holiday Inn Austin Midtown announced that it has raised $3,132.00 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin, TX as a result of its Halloween-themed Client Appreciation Event on October 24th. For the event, the hotel was styled with Halloween decor, guests and hotel staff dressed up for a costume contest, and attendees were treated to specially prepared Halloween Treats from the chef, capped off with a Pumpkin Carving contest.
?We feel that it?s important, especially in today?s economic climate, to give back – especially to those most vulnerable,? said Theresa Campos, Director Of Sales for the Holiday Inn Austin Midtown. ?Every day, as part of the service industry, we help people as part of our jobs. Opening doors, cleaning rooms and taking orders ? the smallest act can brighten someone?s day. With this event we were able to do that on a larger scale in a fun, celebratory atmosphere that also involved our clients. With such a great outpouring of support from the attendees, it really surpassed our expectations.?
The event featured a silent auction at the end of the evening, with items from local businesses and vendors and proceeds benefiting the Austin & Central Texas Ronald McDonald House.
?We couldn?t have done this without our local community,? said Campos. ?The vendors really went above and beyond providing great items for our auction. The response from the attendees was tremendous and we raised a tremendous amount of money for the Ronald McDonald House. We?re thrilled to make this contribution to such a great and important charity. The event was a very rewarding experience for everyone involved and we?re proud of what we accomplished.?
About Ronald McDonald House Charities – Austin
Our mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families. We do this through the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and our Healing Hearts program. Every day we are helping children heal.
When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, families face emotional distress, financial strains and many other devastating consequences. In addition to attending to the complicated medical needs of their children, families struggle to remain together, maintain their jobs, care for other children or family members, keep up with medical and out-of-pocket expenses, and address the psychosocial effects on their children. At RMHC Austin, we are helping families face the burden of childhood illness together.
