Wharf Holdings has been given the green light by Hong Kong?s Buildings Department to redevelop the Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel in the Tsim Sha Tsui district.
Nineteen stories atop a five-level basement will replace the present 18 floors, which feature 665 rooms.
Established in 1969 as the Hong Kong Hotel, it was taken over by the Marco Polo group in 1988.
Wharf says the redevelopment is not imminent as work continues on how best to shape the new hotel to achieve maximum value.
