The culinary team at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples introduce the resort?s new onsite Grow House.
Claimed to be the first of its kind in a resort setting, The Grow House is a repurposed shipping container with the capacity to grow one acre of produce.
Utilising a hydroponic vertical growing system, The Grow House consumes 90 percent less water than a traditional farm or garden of equal size.
Additionally, every aspect of the growing process is controlled ? from temperature to water PH and lighting ? allowing for a 100 percent pesticide free product.
Unlike traditional gardens, the fully controlled environment makes it possible to grow climate sensitive crops year-round, such as lettuces which thrive in cool soils or mushrooms which require consistent humidity.
?The addition of the Grow House complements our relationship with local farms and further supports our goal to provide guests with the finest and freshest ingredients,? says executive chef George Fistrovich.
Radisson Blu turns pink for breakfast
Radisson Blu introduces its Pink Breakfast at selected hotels during October to raise awareness on breast cancer prevention.
Developed in collaboration with French nutritionist Dr Patrick Serog, Pink Breakfast is a charitable and educational initiative which highlights two natural substances and six ?anti-cancer? key foods selected by Dr Serog and incorporated into original recipes created by Radisson Blu chefs.
The two natural substances are quercetin and selenium.
Quercetin can be found in apples, berries, tea, grapes, onions, chocolate, capers and broccoli, while selenium is found in animals or animal products including tuna, mackerel and egg yolk as well as plants like Brazil nuts and whole wheat pasta.
The other six anti-oxidants are pomegranate, curcuma, garlic, green tea, broccoli and coffee.
Throughout the campaign, Radisson Blu guests can add the antioxidant properties and natural substances that help prevent cancer to their usual breakfast.
To help guests maintain a healthy lifestyle at home, Radisson Blu offers little pocket guides,??Pink Breakfast! by Radisson Blu??containing a list of key ingredients and the role they play in preventing cancer.
