Andrew Turner has been appointed managing director of Rosewood Phuket, which will open the first quarter of 2017 as the first Asia resort for ultra-luxury Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® and mark the brand’s entry into Thailand.
An Australian native, Mr. Turner has 22 years’ experience managing city hotels and resorts in Thailand, Australia, China, Egypt, Ireland, Qatar and the U.S. Turner held hotel general manager positions for 10 years, most recently at Baccarat Hotel & Residences in New York, as well as at Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas; Anantara Sanya Resort; Lough Eske Castle of Capella Hotel Group; and The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh. Previously he worked in a number of The Ritz-Carlton hotels as hotel manager and executive assistant manager of rooms.
Rosewood Phuket will feature 71 villas and 32 residences located on the 600-metre Emerald Bay beachfront in southwestern Phuket, one of the island’s last remaining areas for a secluded beach resort enclave. Four restaurants will include a rustic Thai restaurant on the beach built with recycled teak wood; a casual poolside eatery; a bistro; and a terrace bar. Recreational facilities will include the brand’s signature Sense, A Rosewood Spa; beachside organic-form pools and a lap pool; a gymnasium; yoga pavilion and children’s club. The wedding pavilion with private outdoor garden will be able to accommodate up to 100 people.
