Hilton received a perfect score on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
The honor marks Hilton’s fourth consecutive year earning a percent score on the CEI, designating the company as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality again this year.
“We are proud to be named a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality for the fourth year in a row. This prestigious recognition from HRC underscores our commitment to recruiting and retaining a workforce that represents many different cultures, backgrounds and viewpoints,” said Matthew W. Schuyler, chief human resources officer, Hilton.
“As a business of people serving people, diversity and inclusion have been embedded in our culture since our founding more than 100 years ago. We look forward to continuing to champion equality for Team Members, guests and owners alike.”
Hilton is among 1,043 businesses rated in this year’s report and the company is one of 517 to receive perfect marks. HRC uses criteria based in employee benefits, diversity training, employee recruiting and community engagement to determine CEI scores.
Hilton’s commitment to supporting the LGBT community is shown both inside and outside of the company:
- Hilton offers a wide range of diversity and inclusion resources for Team Members and executives, including a comprehensive adoption assistance program, an Executive Diversity Council and a LGBT and Friends Team Member Resource Group.
- Hilton also regularly collaborates with leading organisations including HRC, GLAAD, International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association, National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, National LGBTQ Task Force, Out & Equal Workplace Advocates and Point Foundation.
- Hilton has been a member of the HRC Corporate Coalition Against Anti-LGBT Legislation and the HRC Business Coalition for Equality in support of the Equality Act. Last year, Hilton was the first hospitality company to join the Global Equality Fund, an initiative of the US State Department that advances and protects the human rights of LGBT persons around the world.
