Marriott focus on new design room concept – More lifestyle, but not cosy

New design room concept at Miami Marriott Dadeland

Miami – 26 September 2016
Since three days, Marriott Int. is the largest hotel group of the world. It’s first actions since the fulfilled take-over of Starwood Hotels were the opening of the third Aloft hotel in Germany’s capital of Berlin and designing a brand-new room concept for the traditional Marriott business hotels. Proof of concept: It’s becoming more and more stylish but not cosy.

What is to be expected at your home for one night? Sense of well-being, a comfortable king-size bed, clean showers and, if really necessary, a quality-brewed coffee in the morning. Well, at the renovated Miami Marriott Dadeland the dominant colors of the new ‘Design’ guest rooms are grey, grey-brown and dark brown.

Is this reflecting the standards of style of their guests?

The only colorful design piece is a canvas of a bloom. (And the neutral white bed line)

To detect the photographs of flowers as artistic creation of a famous photograph is one of the difficult challenges of the room concept.

The new created ‘Design’ room concept by Marriott demonstrates why authentic private homes easily bookable on Airbnb are more attractive and the wanted cosy home for one or two nights.

Hotel giants like Marriott should think on their design standards – ‘Grey is the color of socialism,” Otto von Habsburg, a great European and eldest son of the former emperor of Austria, stated. And he was to be right. Until today.
