Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has hired two highly experienced hospitality professionals to be based in its regional office in Bangkok as the Swiss firm prepares for a dynamic period of growth in Asia.
Sarah Fernandez has been appointed as director of marketing communications Asia, and arrives from Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts based in Dubai, following eight years in the Middle East.
Mark Shrives is appointed director of e-commerce, following senior digital positions with hospitality brands including MBK Hotels and Tourism, Hansar Hotels and Resorts and Lebua Hotels and Resorts.
Andrew Langdon, senior vice president Asia, said: “These are two essential positions strategically to have in place as we prepare for rapid growth in Asia as owners and developers embrace the Mövenpick brand, our unique positioning in the hospitality industry and the high standards we bring to all of our hotels.”
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts currently manages eight hotels and resorts in Asia. Most recently opened was the Mövenpick Siam Hotel Pattaya on Na Jomtien Beach in February this year, to increase the total number in Thailand to four.
Debuts in the Philippines and Indonesia will follow this year when Mövenpick Resort Boracay and Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran in the south of Bali will open in the third and fourth quarters.
“These are exciting times for Mövenpick in Asia,” said Landgon. “We are putting together a strong team in our head office here. The market in Asia is responding very well to our brand, our signature offerings and our upscale positioning and we feel confident that we will grow over the coming years.”
